The Most Valuable Way of Being In A Place

Memory is one of the most valuables ways of being in a place. Places, by themselves, may not be all that special. They may have utility and beauty, but what makes a place truly special is the memories that are made there. The beach may be a nice place, however, it is the memories you make there, that make it valuable. For example, North Beach. Before I met my girlfriend, this beach seemed to be just an average beach with some wood stairs leading to it and a lifeguard tower. The beach is pretty rocky once you approach the water and the ocean is lacking in visibility. However, North Beach became valuable to me when I first met my girlfriend there. We made lots of good memories, splashing and tossing sand at each other and generally getting to know each other better. It is because of this encounter that we grew closer as friends and eventually lovers. Thus North Beach has become valuable to me because of the memories that I made there. It now is one of my favorite beaches to go to for walks, photography, and occasional surfing. The beauty of the place became apparent to me only after I made those memories.
